FACE AT THE WINDOW Rob McAlpine: I loved his beautiful face and the play of light and dark. I was painting this image (from GQ magazine) in art school, and making the background dark to light grey. A classmate asked me to look again at the image and tell him what I saw. I saw tiny bits of colour in the background. "Paint them," he said, and I did.
